Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a component of everyone’s blood. It is obtained by drawing blood from a patient and placing the blood in a centrifuge.

Injuries to joints, tendons and muscles or wear and tear diseases such as arthritis may benefit from injection of medication into the painful area.

In some patients a deposit of calcium can form in the tendons of the body, most commonly in the rotator cuff tendons of the shoulder.
