Dr. Václav Černý completed his medical school training at the University of Toronto in 1997. He later studied Orthopedic Surgery at the University of British Columbia, and completed his training in 2002. The following year, Dr. Černý pursued additional fellowship training in complex trauma and hip and knee reconstruction at St. Michael`s Hospital in Toronto, Ontario.
He began his orthopaedic practice at Royal Columbian Hospital in 2003 and ran a busy trauma and lower extremity reconstruction practice. In July, 2006 he moved his practice to Lions Gate Hospital where he is currently working. His orthopaedic interests include hip and knee reconstruction, sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery and lower extremity ligament reconstruction. He continues to run an orthopedic trauma practice as well.
In addition to a busy orthopaedic practice, Dr. Černý has been affiliated with the UBC Department of Orthopaedics as a Clinical Instructor. He continues to actively teach medical students and orthopaedic residents. He also holds memberships in the Canadian Orthopaedic Association, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and BC Orthopaedic Association as an Executive member.
